About
Romy-June Ralph is an accomplished educator and visual artist with a rich history in Queensland’s primary education sector. Her career is grounded in a lifelong commitment to creativity, scholarship and educational leadership.
Romy graduated from Griffith University with a Bachelor of Education (First Class Honours), laying the foundation for her passion for curriculum development, arts integration and student-centred pedagogy. Early in her career, she developed a reputation as a dynamic and creative classroom teacher, drawing on her background in drawing, painting and fine art to engage and inspire young learners.
Recognised for her leadership potential, Romy was selected for the Aspire to Lead program; an initiative designed to support high-performing educators in their leadership journeys. She has since stepped confidently into acting principal roles, demonstrating her capacity to lead with clarity, compassion and professionalism.
In 2023, Romy was elected Secretary of Art Education Australia (AEA), the national peak body for Visual Arts education. In this role (2023–2025), she advocated nationally for the role of the Visual Arts in education and contributed to strategic discussions on creative curriculum design.
Further advancing her academic and artistic practice, Romy completed her Doctor of Creative Arts at the University of Southern Queensland in 2025. Her doctoral work reflects her deep engagement with the role of creativity in both education and artistic practice.
Today, Romy continues teaching in education, where she meaningfully integrates the arts into learning and leads with innovation and care. Her professional journey is a vibrant tapestry of teaching excellence, leadership and a steadfast belief in the transformative power of the Visual Arts in education.
